40 bags in 40 days!
I first heard about the 40 bags in 40 days challenge over at Memories on Clover Lane.
Saving my sanity may be asking a bit too much out of a little trash bag, but I am confident it is up for the challenge!
I have a habit of giving up on decluttering a few days into the project because I get overwhelmed. Anyone else do that? I can’t be the only one who looks around my messy house and thinks “How did we get here… again??”
Instead of making myself feel bad about the fact that I have to re-organize the plastic storage cabinet and my shoe closet every few months I have decided to embrace it.
It’s just part of who I am.
I stick with a system for my home for a few months or more and then it falls apart and I find a better system. Remember acceptance?
Here are some other brave souls who have given this crazy idea a try if you need some added inspiration.
My progress so far
I’ve gone through Tyler’s dresser, the living room hutch, and my desk. I quit either when the job is done or I get a bag filled that day. My desk didn’t have a ton in it so I figure I will move on to another area today.
Do you have a space in your home that needs a little love?
Maybe the 40 bags in 40 days isn’t realistic for you right now, but maybe there’s a laundry room shelf (notice my laundry room shelves have 3 days) that needs to be sorted through or you have clothes in every size you’ve been since high school.
Maybe toys are overtaking your living space and you realize they end up broken more often than not because your kids leave them out.
Maybe your shed out back has seen better days.
Join me in filling 40 bags or just do one little thing.
